Trimble Nomad G Series – NAND Memory Update
(Nomad_BCBUPDATE.exe - 1097 KB)
A Trimble Nomad G Series handheld may show the following symptoms: operating system lockups, incorrect program operation, extended time to boot after being shut down, not booting, and Windows CE not loaded messages. This update resolve these issues. For details on the update and how to install it see the support note.
Trimble Nomad - v2.1 WLAN Driver Update
(NomadWLAN_2.1.zip - 142 KB)
This file installs the WLAN driver update on your Trimble Nomad handheld. This driver will need to be re-installed in the case of resetting the device to factory defaults.
New Features
- Nomad no longer loses a known-good WEP key. Previously when the WEP key was lost, the user was promoted to re-enter the key, and if done incorrectly, the Access Point (AP) (and its settings) may have been removed from the preferred network list.
- WLAN no longer gets into a state where it continuously shows "Connecting" , even when attempting to connect to a different AP. This could only previously be fixed by resetting the Nomad handheld.
- When multiple APs exist with the same SSID, Nomad will now connect to the AP with the strongest signal.
Entitlement
- This upgrade is free of charge
- This update is for Trimble Nomad Series and Trimble Nomad G series handhelds with built in WLAN running firmware version either 1.0.4 or in WAN versions, 1.0.3:
Installation Instructions:
- Download NomadWLAN_2.1.zip to your PC.
- Open the Zip file and extract the NomadWLAN_2.1.CAB file.
- Transfer the NomadWLAN_2.1.CAB file from your PC to a folder of your choice on your Nomad (using Microsoft ActiveSync or a storage card).
- On the Nomad, use the File Explorer tool to find the folder containing the NomadWLAN_2.1.CAB file.
- Tap on the NomadWLAN_2.1.CAB file to initiate the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.
- When prompted, tap OK to restart the Nomad
- You can determine if the new driver has been installed on a Nomad by tapping Start / Settings / System / Remove Programs. If it is installed, you will see an entry for "Nomad WLAN driver v2.1."

Support Notes Mapping and GIS Product Compatibility List
(MGIS_SprtNote_Product_Compatibility.pdf - 492 KB)
This document outlines the compatibility between Trimble field devices, versions of Trimble field software, versions of the GPS Pathfinder Office software and Microsoft Windows operating systems. GPS Pathfinder Office Software: Truncated Links to Feature Attributes
(MGIS_SprtNote_GPSPathfinderOffice_TruncatedFileNames.pdf - 170 KB)
When you collect data in the Trimble TerraSync software, you can link files (for example, digital photos) to a feature attribute. When you download a rover file into the GPS Pathfinder Office software, any linked files are also downloaded onto the computer into the data directory for the current project. If the project path name is longer than 100 characters, the link to the file may be truncated when it is written into the rover file (SSF file). This can cause the link between the feature attribute and the file to be lost. This issue is most likely to happen when you use TrimPix technology or a Trimble Nomad handheld with built-in digital camera. However, it can occur when linking files to feature attributes in the TerraSync software. This support note explains the issue and how to avoid it.
