New Features

• v5.0.3 is the Microsoft Windows Mobile version 5.0 software for the Trimble Ranger handheld.

Entitlement

• If you have a Trimble Ranger handheld that is running Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PCs, you are entitled to a free upgrade to Windows Mobile 5.0 software if you:

  • Purchased your Trimble Ranger handheld after 11 April 2006.

  • Had a current Operating System Enhancement Extension on, or after, 10 July 2006.

v4.2.2C - Trimble Ranger Handheld, Operating System (Pocket PC 2003)

New Features

• v4.2.2C fixes a problem where a Trimble Ranger handheld with a flat battery will not power up, even if it is connected to external AC power. This operating system update contains no other changes from the 4.2.2 operating system and is not required for handhelds that do not exhibit the battery problem. For more information, refer to the Support Note that describes this issue.

• v4.2.2C can be used to downgrade a Trimble Ranger handheld from Windows Mobile v5.0 to Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC. Only Trimble Ranger handhelds that have previously had the Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC software installed can be downgraded from Windows Mobile v5.0.

• If you are running the Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PCs, the upgrade is free of charge.

Installation Instructions

• Before beginning ensure you have downloaded all data from your device as this will be lost on installing the new version of the operating system.

• Connect your Trimble Ranger Handheld to your PC using ActiveSync.

• Download and run the executable. Follow the on screen instructions to upgrade your operating system.
